Mary Poppins has always been one of my favourite films.
The beautiful background paintings ~ when she floats down from the sky or the view of the London Night Sky from the rooftops during the chimney sweep dance.
Cue me rewinding the VHS.
...Cue my younger readers googling VHS.
But what I've always loved most is this quote:
"Winds in the east, mist coming in. Like somethin’ is brewin’ and bout to begin."
I think because it feels so hopeful and magical, which is why I've titled this bundle Winds in the East ~ an attempt to bring some hope and magic to those who might need it this holiday season.
I've spoken a bit this year about how grateful I have felt for the kindness of this book/art community I've fallen into. The beautifully staged photos of book covers, the shop purchases, the email subscriptions, the reposts, the comments, and messages... it has all made my heart so happy.
A less happy aspect, but an equally meaningful one, has been getting to share in some of the hardships of this year. Art is powerful and the stories I've received from so many of you about the role some of my work has played in seeing you through a certain season has both broken my heart and mended it.
When I sign off my emails and blogs with "All My Love" I really mean it.
I've pulled together ten original artworks and made them into a bundle of desktop/tablet and phone wallpapers. You can find them on my shop here.
As this year draws to a close, I hope you are able to take some time, pop your phone in a drawer in another room, grab a pencil and a piece of paper, and think about what mist might be coming in for 2025.
Sometimes situations feel like an end, but "if it's not the end, it's not the end," ~ which means that if you still have breath in your lungs, there's a very good chance something hopeful and magical is brewing, about to begin.
All my love,
Emmy xxx
